(Leather Cut-out top: Vintage, Gingham Skirt: DIY, Barbie Shoes: Topshop, Stone necklace: Forever21, Purse: Mulberry)
Gingham, gingham haunts my dreams. I love gingham, so yay, it's having a come back. I actually have a lighter blue gingham skirt I bought from Topshop, but due to their bad quality, length and sizing I felt a need to replace my bobbled, skelt-lengthed, gappy-waist skirt. How to remain placid and not agitated by the Highstreet's idea of a suitable length (money saving initiative- less fabric= less cost) I went to Hobby craft and left with some fabric. An Afternoon later I had a skirt that fits my out of proportion waist AND covers my butt. Everyone is a winner. I used this tutorial if anyone wants to get crafty!
Lots of love,
Emma x

ah, both the top and the skirt are beautiful! i love gingham too, and the skirt turned out so great:-) i wish i had some sewing projects to finish/start, but i have none of that fun stuff with me at uni! xx
ReplyDeleteI love me a project! I feel like human not sewing stuff. I used sewing as a break from University/ while watching the TV. I'm not a good role model though!

Blue gingham really is something I look forward to wear more often. It's so picnickish (does this word exist?)!
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful!
If my entire wardrobe was picnickish I would be a happy lady!! (It is also so a word!)

Wow, that skirt turned out just lovely! I have the same problem with waist/behind proportions - maybe I should go your route and try making my own skirts!
ReplyDeleteSee, I know I am not the only girl that suffers this issue so why don't they do something? Le sigh.

It is a pretty shoddy skirt. However, for a first attempt, it's decent.
DeleteStop flirting with me. Not don't, I like it.

I have a legitimate fear of that, my neighbor when I was a kid did that. Freaky!

Wow, you're so clever to make that amazing dress yourself!! it's so nice... You suit gingham so much, don't fight the pull of looking a bit like Dorothy (in the best possible way). Your shoes are amazing, almost as amazing as the gorgeous scenery as usual!
ReplyDeleteHave a good week <3
Well at least you said Dorothy rather than the scarecrow. That would have been mean!

This is definitely such a great skirt, I simply love it (need to get a similar one myself)! Amazing look my dear :)
ReplyDeleteYou look so gorgeous in gingham! It's amazing that you made it, I would never have guessed. Your shoes are really pretty and you look beautiful! I love the countryside background :) xx
ReplyDeleteCan't believe you made this skirt yourself, I'm useless at things like that! Great job, it looks lovely :) xx
ReplyDeleteYou're so clever, I love your skirt and the fact you made it yourself makes it so much more special. I agree with you though, the high street's idea of a suitable length leaves a lot to be desired (by leery old men ha). I don't think I could make the skirt - the instructions sound straight forward enough but I'm no good with a sewing machine and I couldn't tell you what a zigzag stitch is! Can't leave this post without mentioning how amazing your top and shoes are either - the whole look is perfect and everything fits together so well xxx
ReplyDeleteAhaha, yes, creepy men love it! Maybe creepy men are the heads of high street stores? Ha, I just practiced, I had to restitch some of it. This top was such a score, £10 well spent.
