BAKERLOO by London Retro
I was 10 when I got my first glasses, which coincidentally coincided with the same age I got braces. I didn't get courted much that year, and I was certainly never asked to dance to Steps at the school discos. As an "adult" even more vain than my 10 year old self I wanted to give contacts a go. However, after the stress of ruining numerous pairs while a rather aggressive optician successfully managed to stuff pair number 4 in my eyes, only to find myself even more blind than I was before, I gave up on the idea and re-embraced the glasses. I actually need my glasses for basically everything just short of wearing them all the time; work, reading, driving- living. One pair isn't really enough. If I leave my pair at work, the fear of being told I am on the threshold of being able to legally drive without glasses becomes a bit stressful, especially if you are already driving in 5 inch heels. Which is bad enough. Then the lovely Jess from MyOptique emailed me asking if I'd like to review a pair of their new range, which, wait for it, was inspired by the London subway. Cute. To avoid another harrowing experience including unnecessary blindness and eye poking or driving in constant fear of killing someone I jumped at the chance! Now, I must admit, buying prescription glasses online is something I had never considered, I am that girl in the opticians that goes to every shop in the city to try on every pair and leaves deflated, wishing she had a different face. My fussiness seemed incompatible with not being able to physically try on glasses. However, all the shapes in this collection are very modern and I actually found it really difficult to pick just one pair. Obviously the pricings are very competitive too, unless you opt for the grandma lilac wire frames you are unlikely to get the frames alone for much less than £100. Each pair in the collection comes in at a post-student-I-am-still-grippy friendly price of £79. VoilĂ , opinion on shopping for glasses online has now completely changed.
So, MyOptique gift to you? Sight, enter below for your chance to win a
pair of your choice. To enter you have to buy me a puggle pug. Only
joking, just "like" MyOptique on Facebook
and post on their wall "Enter Tea
Toast Fashion's Give Away". Easy! The lovely guys over at MyOptique
will also happily convert your glasses into Sunglasses or put in a
prescription. See the full collection here, I have my fingers crossed for you.

Helloooo to my sister in the bad-eyesight department. Praise be to glasses. I wear contacts every single day though, I've found them ok to get on with, but I always have my trusty pair of retro specs to hand just in case. These ones are gorgeous, they really suit you. I love these photos too- the dressing gown is so glamorous, and your hair looks amazing (you look exactly like Lana in the last photo). Liking the cactus in the background too, I have such a cacti-obsession.
ReplyDeleteSo from another previously-braced, currently be-speckled girl to another, I love this post! xx
Lana? My eyes narrowed to Lana- she says currently listening to Young and Beautiful. You are a babe Miss Katie! I love cacti too! I grew some from seed and gave one to my ex boyfriend and he murdered it. It was shriveled and dry but moldy. I was impressed with his commitment to killing my stuff..

The last photo of you reminds me of Miranda in The Devil Wears Prada! You look gorgeous of course, I'm glad you've found the right pair of glasses for you. I'm about the same as you in terms of eyesight, but I'm short sighted - are you? I need mine for pretty much everything, only I'm too self conscious to walk about in them ALL the time. I put them on when I need to. After years of not being able to see everything, walking down the street with glasses on and taking it all in is pretty scary! I think I'm still of that five year old mentality where if I can't see them, they can't see me! I've bought glasses online once before, I wanted a fabulous pair of designer frames and I ordered them online and thought they were wonderful. My current pair are Gok Wan for Specsavers, I fell in love! They are about 2 and a half years old, and still going strong (at my last test the lady said I could have sharper vision with a new pair, but I said no!) xxx
ReplyDeleteI have never seen that film, I always meant to. So I am not sure if that is a compliment? Ha, I love getting glasses that you fall in love with, that has only happened once for me. Glasses last ages as well- until you sit on them.. So glad to have found a fellow glasses wearing lady! xx
Deletegreat photos! i love your glasses!

You are far too pretty. I bet all the kids who laughed at you at school are kicking themselves now! And you are almost making me want glasses, you look so great- though sadly/ not sadly, I have perfect vision. Oh well! xx
ReplyDeleteAt least you can fly a plane. I'd kill everyone because I wouldn't see them- not a bonus.

These really suit you, and I love the photos! x

You look so lovely in glasses! I like that you drive around in heels too, I'm not quite brave enough for that yet :) xx
ReplyDeleteI actually find it easier- it arches the curves in your feet. I am far stompier in flats while driving.
