Favourite Things

Evening re-reading of my favourite book by the sea.  This is my Granddad's copy of To Kill a Mockingbird that he gave me when I was reading it in school. It's a great book, and one I claim to be my favourite, in order to substantiate this claim I feel I need to have read the book more, so it seemed logical that as Stuart got out his bike that I would grab out this to read while serenaded with the sweet sound of his breaks screeching. He Trails bikes by the way. Jumps around on things on a bike with no seat. I know nothing more.

Holiday presents. The best friend skipped off to Poland for a post-university treat and returned with chocolate treats for me. Personally a nice fridge magnet would have gone down well, but edible gifts are great, especially when they are as pretty as these babies. There is an element of danger with these though, my Polish, not so good even, so each mouthful is remarkably similar to my imagined experience of Bertie-Botts Every Flavour Beans. Thankfully, the ones that particularly intimidate me like Italian coffee and whiskey were quickly identified and forced on to Stuart.

Locating the last of the Scottish snow for a snowball fight on the warmest day of the year so far. Ignore the bins, tactics in snowball fights do not allow for aesthetically pleasing snow pictures.

I hope you all had a glorious weekend, and a sunny one for those of you in the UK. I hope no-one got burnt and that no-one took their tops off because it was sunny and over 10 degrees- pet hate. It is not that warm. I have no desire to see pasty nipples in May. Anyway, that spiraled quickly.

With love from,

Emma x

    1. Haha, yes re-reading always makes you notice something new in a book, something new to love, or in the case of re-reading death of a salesman, something new to hate.

  7. Hahaha I love that last bit- NO people do NOT need to take off their tops in the UK in May. Unless they're in a pool/ the sea. Those chocolates look AMAZING, I'm jealous. Why do my friends not bring me back such delicious treats?! xx

    1. Alice, I saw even more pasty bodies today and it was cloudy. My eyes are starting to burn! It's because I am a fatty and chocolate is the way to my heart, that and cats but she's allergic.

  10. Goodness so much to comment on, not quite sure where/how to start. Well, firstly beautiful pictures, always nice to stumble upon a blog and be greeted with authentic photographs. And To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my favourite books EVER. For this reason, we are obliged to follow you. Look forward to future posts (:

  11. Emma, I've just had a read through some of your blog and ohhhh it's so cool! I've not seen one so unique in a while, I'm enjoying reading.

It's nice that you have a copy of your Granddad's book - it must be special. I haven't read To Kill a Mockingbird yet, I plan on finding a copy this summer.

    1. Aw honey! :) I think I love you. Yeah, I love this copy, he got all the classics through the readers digest so they aren't worth anything but mean a lot to me, I remember them from when I was a kid. The book is hard going to begin with but is amazing when you get into it!

Thank you for this really sweet comment!
